Dr Carter’s Retirement
Announcement
Aylmer Lodge Cookley Partnership would like to announce the retirement of our much loved and respected Senior Partner, Dr Tony Carter who will be retiring from the Practice on 31st March 2023 after a 35 year medical career.
Dr Carter has been the senior Partner of our Practice for 14 years and has led us through many changes and developments in Primary Care during that time. We are sure that patients and his colleagues will miss him very much and are grateful to him for his many years of dedication to the Practice and the broader NHS.
We are delighted that Dr Katy Francis, one of our trainee doctors, is coming back to work with us now she is a fully qualified GP. She will take on Dr Carter’s caseload when he leaves in April
We are sure that all our patients would like to join us in wishing Dr Carter a very long, happy and healthy retirement with his family.

Statement from Dr Carter:
“It has been an honour and a privilege to have been a GP at Aylmer Lodge for most of my medical career. After completing GP training in Birmingham, I worked in Australia before joining the Practice – then based at Broomfield Road – in 1995.
After 28 years as a Partner the time is right for me to retire from the Practice, spend some more time with my family, and pursue some new challenges and adventures. Aylmer Lodge Cookley Partnership has been a huge part of my life and I shall miss my colleagues, staff, patients and the many friends I have made along the way. The Practice is in safe hands and well equipped for the challenging times we have ahead in the NHS. Thanks to all for enabling me to have had such an enjoyable and rewarding career.
I’m genuinely very sad to leave ‘the Lodge’, which has been such an integral part of my career and our family life for so long. However, I know it is the right time to go, and I’m looking forward to retirement and some new projects and adventures!”
Dr Carter would like to pass on his thanks to the many patients who wished him well with messages, cards and gifts on the occasion of his retirement and was overwhelmed by the kindness shown.
