Changes to Ordering Repeat Prescriptions

Posted on:

The way you request your repeat prescription may be changing.

Pharmacies will no longer be ordering repeat prescriptions on your behalf, which means you will have to order directly through your GP surgery.

Your prescription will still be sent to your nominated pharmacy as usual.

There are 3 ways to order your repeat prescription:

  • Bring your repeat slip into the surgery – you can post this in our prescriptions box or hand to a receptionist
  • Email our prescriptions team at [email protected]
  • Order online via the NHS App or Patient Access

Please try to avoid calling the prescriptions telephone line as there may be long delays in answering your call.

We ask that you only request the items that you need. Over-ordering medication costs the NHS hundreds of millions of pounds every year, which is money that could be used to provide vital health services.

Please be sure to allow enough time when ordering your repeat prescription to get your items. It can take 7 days for the GP surgery and pharmacy to prepare your prescription from order to collection.

We thank you for your understanding.
