Keep Warm, Keep Well!

With temperatures dropping, it’s important to take steps to stay warm and healthy. Here are some simple tips to help you and your loved ones this season:

🌡️ Keep Your Home Warm: Aim for at least 18°C in rooms you use regularly. Layer up with blankets and use draught excluders to keep the heat in.

🛋️ Stay Active Indoors: Moving around helps keep your circulation going and your body warm. Even light stretching or housework can make a difference.

🥘 Eat and Drink Well: Have at least one hot meal each day and drink warm beverages such as tea or soup. Proper nutrition helps your body stay warm from the inside out.

🧦 Layer Up: Wear several layers of thin clothing, as this traps heat better than one thick layer. Don’t forget your socks and slippers!

🔥 Stay Fire Safe: If you’re using heaters, electric blankets, candles, or fireplaces, ensure they are in good working order and never leave them unattended. Ensure your smoke alarms are regularly tested, and if you are worried, you can always book a FREE Home Fire Safety Visit with the local Fire and Rescue Service by calling 0800 032 1155.

💰 Financial Support: You may be eligible for financial support, such as Warm Home Discount or Cold Weather Payment. For further advice on these support measures, visit Age UK’s website or call 0800 169 6565.

👭 Stay Connected: Check in on your friends, family, or neighbours, especially those who are older or vulnerable, to make sure they’re staying warm and well.
