Bowel Cancer Awareness Month

April is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month
Did you know that bowel cancer is the third most common cancer in the UK? It is important to understand the symptoms as early diagnosis can save lives.
Persistent change in bowel habits
Blood in your stool (without an obvious reason)
Tummy pain, bloating, or discomfort
Unexplained weight loss or tiredness
If you’ve had any of these symptoms for 3 weeks or more, please don’t ignore them – speak to your GP.
Bowel cancer can affect anyone, but it’s more common in those over 50. If you’re aged 50 to 74, you’ll receive an NHS bowel cancer screening kit in the post every two years. Put it by the loo, and use it – don’t put it off.
