Non-urgent advice: Building Accessibility Statement

Aylmer Lodge Surgery is located within Hume Street Medical Centre, a shared building with Northumberland House Surgery and Cohens Chemist. A shared private car park is available, with designated disabled parking spaces situated on both sides of the building for ease of access.

The practice offers a waiting area and consultation rooms across both the ground and first floors. These are accessible via a lift and stairwell. Accessible toilets are available on both floors.

Our main reception desk, located on the ground floor, includes a lowered section to improve access for wheelchair users. A hearing loop is also available to assist patients with hearing impairments.

Cookley Surgery, our branch practice, is located in Cookley village. Although there is no on-site patient parking, public parking is available nearby in the village. Wheelchair and disabled access is provided via a ramp. Please note that this is an adapted building and some corridors may be narrower than those in purpose-built medical centres. However, all patient areas, including consultation rooms, are located on the ground floor.

The reception desk at Cookley Surgery also includes a lowered section for improved wheelchair access, and a hearing loop is available for patients with hearing impairments.

Cookley Surgery is a dispensing practice and can dispense medications to patients living in Cookley and Wolverley. We are unable to dispense to patients who live less than a mile from a dispensing chemist.

If you require assistance with transport, our reception team can help you arrange a taxi.

If you have any concerns about accessibility or would like to discuss specific arrangements or adjustments in advance of your visit, please contact the practice directly.

We are committed to ensuring that all patients are able to access our services safely and comfortably.

Accessible Information

Aylmer Lodge Cookley Partnership follows the Accessible Information Standard (AIS) set by NHS England.

The Practice will ensure that patients and service users (and where appropriate carers and parents) who have information or communication needs relating to a disability, impairment, or sensory loss receive accessible information and communication support. The Practice will ensure that all correspondence affords patients the opportunity to have their individual information or communication needs met.

The Practice will also ensure that the current contact details for access to properly qualified persons who are registered language interpreters, interpreters for deaf/blind persons, or who use sign language and other assisted communication methods are available in reception. Patients who require a language interpreter will be allocated a 20-minute appointment slot. The Practice will ensure that only persons who are registered interpreters, properly qualified, insured, and DBS checked to Enhanced Disclosure level are used.
